There’s a lot of not-so-good stories going around these days. This isn’t one of them.

Do you know someone who is so passionate about something, so in LOVE with something that even on the worst day – when they are enjoying this thing they LOVE,  all is good in the world?

We do.  His name is Polo Rodriguez. Polo is eleven years old, living with advanced Muscular Dystrophy and likes baseball.

Make that “loves” baseball. And really loves the Cleveland Indians. Here at MC Corporate Housing we take baseball pretty darn seriously and well…

We just couldn’t help ourselves when Polo’s Father called to ask if we could somehow get Polo an autographed copy of the team for his son. Could we ever!

 Being the official housing provider for the team and knowing how the Cleveland Indians feel about their fans, we called them up, told them about Polo and his special request and they being the AMAZING people they are, insisted Polo and his family come to the field in person!  So that’s just what they’re going to do.

Tomorrow night they will be headed over to the Indian’s training facility for a special tour, a little batting practice, some picture taking with the team and then the Indians vs. Texas Rangers game!

We also made sure they didn’t have to drive far after such a long day so we’re putting them to bed in one of corporate suites in Goodyear. Done and DONE~

As you know the AMA is very actively involved in helping UMOM. Recently an  e-mail was put out with cry for help for some of these UMOM shelters and families needing pillows and linens for the shelters so the entire multi-family housing industry started the collection of those items. In addition they asked for any kind of furniture and house ware donation we can spare for 5 people moving out of those shelters into permanent housing. MC decided to not only donate a few items but in fact furnish all 5 units.

It was a huge cry fest yesterday when we delivered the furniture. Rose, the new resident couldn’t stop crying.  She said she  did not think that we will set up a whole unit for her and that no one has ever done anything like that for her before. Prior to this fresh start, Rose had ended up homeless and slept under a bridge. She had to get up at 4:30 each morning to get in line at a shelter hoping to get a bed for that night. The first night she slept in her apartment before we had delivered the furniture, she slept on the floor without a pillow or a blanket but said it was the most beautiful feeling to her because it was quiet and it was all hers.  Jessica made her bed and set up her room just like a hotel room and Rose could not stop crying. Even the case worker and our guys were crying!  These people are so deserving of every piece donated and I was and am so honored to have been part of this!!!

Arizona was awarded the amazing privilege of hosting yet another super bowl!!

When the Valley hosts the Super Bowl in 2015, it will be the game’s third visit to Arizona.

Steve Moore, head of the Greater Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau, expects more convention groups to choose the Valley after seeing that the region can host a huge event like the Super Bowl.

“This is going to come at a great time for our local community and give us the ability to really rally around a great, big event,” Bidwill said. “It’s going to be huge for tourism, our economic development and our visibility not only in the United States but around the world.”

He and others said the game and the glitz surrounding it would provide a much-needed jolt to the state. One economist estimated the economic impact could reach $600 million, while a tourism representative said the impact ripples beyond the game.
