At MC Corporate Housing, we feel that it’s imperative to do our part in sharing tips on water safety. MC Corporate Housing consulted with Shelley Mulligan, a Certified ISR Instructor at Infant Swim Resource for tips on how to stay safe around the water this summer. In addition to the list below, Shelley shared the following with MCCH, “There is nothing so tragic as hearing about a child drowning. It is a preventable tragedy. Lessons are like a pool fence, in that they add another level protection, but nothing takes the place of close supervision of children in and around the water.” We couldn’t agree more Shelley!

5 IMPORTANT KEYS TO WATER SAFETY  (via www.infantswim.com)

1. Effective Supervision

The most critical line of defense is adult supervision. No level of aquatic skill can replace active supervision. If your child is ever missing, look in the water first.

2. Pool Fences

Install a permanent 4-sided fence with self-locking gates. Ensure that the pool fence is at least 3-5 feet from the pool edge.

3. Alarms

Make sure all doors and windows leading to the pool are locked and alarmed.

4. Survival Swimming Lessons

A moment’s inattention does not have to cost a child his life. ISR’s Self-Rescue™ training is an added layer of protection, teaching your child water survival skills in a completely safe environment.

5. CPR

If an emergency happens, it is essential parents and families are prepared. Learn to perform CPR on children and adults and remember to update those skills regularly.

There’s a lot of not-so-good stories going around these days. This isn’t one of them.

Do you know someone who is so passionate about something, so in LOVE with something that even on the worst day – when they are enjoying this thing they LOVE,  all is good in the world?

We do.  His name is Polo Rodriguez. Polo is eleven years old, living with advanced Muscular Dystrophy and likes baseball.

Make that “loves” baseball. And really loves the Cleveland Indians. Here at MC Corporate Housing we take baseball pretty darn seriously and well…

We just couldn’t help ourselves when Polo’s Father called to ask if we could somehow get Polo an autographed copy of the team for his son. Could we ever!

 Being the official housing provider for the team and knowing how the Cleveland Indians feel about their fans, we called them up, told them about Polo and his special request and they being the AMAZING people they are, insisted Polo and his family come to the field in person!  So that’s just what they’re going to do.

Tomorrow night they will be headed over to the Indian’s training facility for a special tour, a little batting practice, some picture taking with the team and then the Indians vs. Texas Rangers game!

We also made sure they didn’t have to drive far after such a long day so we’re putting them to bed in one of corporate suites in Goodyear. Done and DONE~

Pretty cool stuff.
